Foundation
Founded at the Foothills Medical Centre as a collaborative effort between a group of visionary philanthropists, Alberta Health Services, and the Divisions of Cardiology and Diagnostic Imaging.
Growth & Recognition under Dr. Matthias Friedrich
Clinical volumes grew rapidly through the efforts of the cardiologist and cardiac imager recruited from Germany. This program was the first of its kind in Canada and established as an important pillar in (Southern) Alberta.
Precision Medicine by Dr. James Alexander White
The transition brought a new academic vision and strengthened the existing team. With the academic focus aimed towards validating the strengths of CMR to prevent sudden cardiac deaths, the SCIC was well posed to guide the practical use of this imaging modality in routine patient care.
Expanding Innovation and Translation by Dr. Marco Götte
Dr. Marco Götte introduced a new research program: interventional CMR, advanced tissue characterization, electrophysiology integration, and quantitative cardiovascular imaging, while continuing its established commitment to clinical CMR excellence and education.
